Crisis For Children Across The WorldWorldwide Statistics- Today more than 300m children across the world are subject to violence, exploitation and abuse. They include child slaves, children dying in armed conflict, girls undergoing female genital mutilation.
- 9.7m children die each year due to lack of proper food and water, from diseases or through malnutrition. 3m of these lives could be saved by basic cost measures
 - 30,000 children die each day
- 1 billion people do not have clean water
- More than 1 billion people live on less than 50p a day
- 2.5 billion people do not have a clean and healthy way to get rid of urine and faeces
- Each minute of every day an HIV positive baby is born. The virus having been passed on by the mother during pregnancy, labour or upon delivery. 1440 per day, 525,600 per year
- 1.2m children are trafficked each year as child slaves for exploitation for sexual purposes or to be domestic servants.
Area Specific Statistics1m children facing food crisis in Malawi. 7m children living and working on the streets of Brazil. The police see them as a nuisance and often eliminate them through extra judicial shootings. With no families to speak out for them and with rampant poverty and corruption the perpetrators remain free. 30m orphans across Africa, 1.7m in Zimbabwe alone; life expectancy in Zimbabwe, which was 62 in 1990, had by 2004 plummeted to 37 for men and 34 for women.
